May 30, 2011

This week has been pretty amazing.  I love being here as always and yesterday was just really hilarious.  Everything that happened just made me laugh so much.  As for the companion situation, I'm with Elder Hokanson from Star Valley, WY until tomorrow, when he goes to the Peru MTC.  (He's going to Lima on his mission and they stay here for three weeks.  All Spanish...  I am so scared for him!)  So I'm with one Elder until tomorrow when I'll be put into a trio with the two Elders that I share a room with.  Their names are Elder Solomon and Rampton and they are way funny.  I'm glad to be with them of all the people in my district :)

I got the photo album and I love it.  I can't believe that I forgot to bring any pictures out on my mission.  It brings back a lot of fun memories and I'm sure that it will put me in as great of a mood everytime that I look at it.  I am so blessed to have such an amazing family.  I also did get the pens and the twizzlers.  Thanks a lot :)

Thanks so much for that quote from Hugh B. Brown's mother.  I really do more often than not find myself relying on my heavenly father.  This week I wouldn't have been able to make it through my companion going home without prayer.  Because of Heavenly Father I know that I can be happy forever.  Like it says in 2 Nephi 25:2 or something haha that "Adam fell that men might be and men are that they might have joy."

So this week was kind of a blur.  Russell M. Nelson spoke at the devotional last week about the love that all of the general authorities have for missionaries and I came to realize that we really are kind of in the spotlight.  So many people are praying for missionaries and their safety and success, I wouldn't want to let them down.  I just live each day to the best of my ability so that I cannot come home with any regrets.  My teachers were out of town, so we had substitutes for most of this week.  One of them went to Spain on her mission and she talks with a lisp because that's how they do it.  It's really weird.  Also one of the "investigators" in the TRC had gone to Argentina where they have a weird accent too.  They say stuff like COMO SHAY SHAMA instead of como se llama..  I don't know haha it was a pretty fun week though.  All of the substitutes we had were awesome!

I can't wait to get out into the mission field.  The MTC is great and everything, but the best experiences that I have are always when we're teaching the mock investigators in the TRC.  It feels so real, and I just am so tired of sitting around studying.  I just want to go!  The people of Mexico are waiting for me, and I'm just stuck in spirit prison.  Haha

Yesterday when I realized that it was the day of the Bolder Boulder, I got really sad.  That was so much fun last year with Paul and Joni and then the year before with Glen and Kendi.  So many memories...  Haha last year there was a smashed packet of powerbar liquid stuff on the ground and someone dared Joni to lick it up off the nasty 50,000 foot-trodden pavement for 5 bucks and, of course, she did it :)

I miss my family and I love you guys a lot.  I hope that you are happy, and please don't get flooded!  Keep me updated on all of the happenings out there in the world.  I'm kinda unaware of everything that's going on, so it'd be cool to be told some stuff!  DearElder doesn't deliver on weekends or holidays, so I haven't gotten anything for 4 days.  Hopefully I get a lot tonight, but if not whatever.  :)  I can't wait to get Hannah's letter and tell her thanks and that I'll write her back in a few days when I get it!

I'm running low on time.  I got kind of a crappy keyboard to type this e-mail on, so sorry this one wasn't too fun or exciting.  I'll talk to you in a week :)

Love you lots,

Eric

  1. We're glad you put these on here. They are fun to read. We just sent him a letter today through Dear Elder. HOpe he gets it and we had it all figured out right.
